[old]CITT addon

Post  noobzilla on Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:23 am

Update: Doonge's come up with a plugin that works on both Firefox and Chrome

How to install
FIREFOX:
1. Download this file: *link edited, check the most recent thread here*
2. Open with Firefox. You will get a message box --> click on "Install now"
3. Visit any of the naver links for cheese in the trap
4. Translation will show up on its own.

CHROME (version 4.0 or higher):
1. Download this file: *link edited, check the most recent thread here*
2. Drag and drop the file into Chrome
3. A message will pop up, Click on "Continue". then "Install now"
3. Visit any of the naver links for cheese in the trap
4. Translation will show up on its own.

Advantages:
1. It will load the translation for every chapter that oddsquad translated.
2. You don't have to insert any code anymore.
3. The file for Chrome can be combined with greasemonkey and similar programs to run on IE and other browsers, well figure that out for yourself. Enjoy.

Important
1. Don't try to install firefox plugin on chrome and vice versa and start complaining that it doesn't work.
2. When you are prompted select all the options that "Allow" your addon to be installed.
3. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS - post in the troubleshooting thread, then Doonge can help you.
4. How to Disable an addon/ extension? Google it.

Remember you shouldn't distribute CITT, let's continue supporting the author~
Ah don't forget to leave comments... would terrible if we suddenly see no ones interested in cheese anymore.

What would be the requirement if you wanted to distribute the file through mozilla ?

https://addons.mozilla.org/

Seems more secure to me, and easier to install for beginners.

I think they won't let you distribute unless firefox thinks its useful for the general public, we tried it already.

Ah nicely working now. I'm just gonna put it on code.google.com .. at least that is trustworthy compared to those fileshare sites

Nifty indeed. Had to fight with it a little to make it work on Firefox, it kept denying the add-on but it's working now after about 7 restarts. Very nice job on the add-on! Keep up the good work!

Off-topic: It's a lot easier to rip the pages off than it is for original naver images, but hopefully it won't cause too much trouble. And does the author still get the revenue even if the page is modified? (<- A noob when it comes to this thing.)

if we rip pages off and scanlate them, you'll find it on mangafox within the day. Also author definitely gets revenue. You are loading the whole naver page, hence giving her the clicks. Then changing how it looks ONLY on your pc. Doesn't affect anyone else.

It about the same concept as buying a book and adding notes with a pencil. You already paid for it (in this case visited). What you do with it now only affects you.

Nah nah, that's not what I meant. I meant it's easier to rip the revised images off than it is to rip the original korean naver images which are protected by a script which breaks when you replace the images with the script you're using. The images you're (re)placing (over) thus do not have a whole lot of protection and do not require a specialised add-on for retrieving the images. Not entirely sure if that would really make a difference seen as when there's a will there's a way, but I'm still sightly worried seen as simply copying the english version off of naver is rather easy.

I'm glad the author gets the revenue, I wasn't entirely sure how the revenue is assigned to the author so I was a little bit worried.

EDIT: Nvm, it only copies the overlay which by itself is rather harmless. I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

Well it's one of those situations where "if you know how to do it, you can do it, if you don't know you can't. " If it doesn't make sense, don't worry, this doesn't matter. Although I guess a script can easily be added to prevent right clicking.

Yeah, figured as much. As I previously said, when there's a will there's a way, unfortunately there's a way no matter what people do to stop others.

I believe the script by itself exists but doesn't seem to take effect immediately.

I wonder if you could just use the code

javascript: var citt=document.createElement('script');citt.type='text/javascript';citt.src= 'http://cheeseitt.googlecode.com/files/ChromeCITT.user.js'; document.body.appendChild(citt);

for each chapter instead of posting a new one for each chapter, for those who do not use the addon/userscript.

http://www.oddsquad.org/p/citt.html wrote:Guide for using code: For All browsers, Chrome, Firefox 8, Internet Explorer 9, Detailed method

Chapter 42 javascript: var citt=document.createElement('script');citt.type='text/javascript';citt.src= 'http://cheeseitt.googlecode.com/files/CITTs1c42.js'; document.body.appendChild(citt);
Chapter 41 javascript: var citt=document.createElement('script');citt.type='text/javascript';citt.src= 'http://cheeseitt.googlecode.com/files/CITTs1c41.js'; document.body.appendChild(citt);

Would give
