Feed not working

Post  DorkFishOK on Wed Aug 01, 2012 3:45 am

I just downloaded the plugin for Chrome and when I put the address into the feed box it simply says "Feed Not Working!" even after I filter Naver.com through AdBlock, and I haven't cleared any cookies/cache from my browser during that time. I opened the console and it said "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)" and I put in the universal code to see if that would work and it also said "404 (Not Found)". I looked at the page that has the description and manual about it but I suck at using computers so I still don't know what's going on. Sorry Sad

Okay, could you copy/paste right here the feed you are trying to add, and the manual code aswell?

Okay.

First, click on the links you gave to see if you can reach them (I copy-paste them here)
http://lmsodd.x10.mx/oddsquad/oss/index.php
http://lmsodd.x10.mx/oddsquad/oss/naver-reader-oss.js

On the first you should just see "{}".
The second, a wall-o-text.

Second, if you use Firefox,
Open Firefox Menu > Extensions (this open the extension tab)
And desactivate most of them (especially the ones that are meant to block content, like noscript and adblock).
Then try again adding the feed.

At this point, if it works, it's one of your extensions that is misconfigured.
If it doesn't work, that'll be extra work for me =(

Anyway, personnally AdBlock doesn't theorically interfere with my use of the plugin. My AdBlock uses a common blocking list, and as far as I know, neither naver.com neither lmsodd.x10.mx could be in any adblock list of ad servers (we don't do ads).
The only extension that I had to configure is NoScript. Since I didn't want to allow ANY website from x10.mx, but just lmsodd.x10.mx, I had to specifically allow that one. But I don't even get any 404 error whith NoScript.

I use Google Chrome instead of Firefox, but I disabled everything in the extensions except for the naver reader plugin. It still didn't work Sad

could you install other web navigators (firefox, opera), and try with them if it works?

Just to know if the problem is specific to chrome and your computer, or not.

Hello, is something wrong with chapter 25 to 37 of Cheese in a Trap? I've installed the plugin from http://www.oddsquad.org/p/naver-addon.html and inserted the feed, but in these chapters i get "missing images" error.

Thank you for your message.

No it was the plugin, I forgot to make it compatible with the old split chapters of Cheese in the Trap (from 25 to 37, as you correctly noticed).

Now that you mention it, I'll have to edit the feed.
Thank you again ^^

I fixed it, the current version is now 1.2.1, you'll have to reinstall it.

Sorry, good pleasure with Cheese in the Trap, and don't hesitate to warn whenever there's a problem, I'll try to respond as quick as possible.

I just want to start of with saying thanks for translating this webtoon. Seriously, I appreciate it.

The problem I have this that neither the addons nor the code works. I keep getting 404 when using the code and simply nothing happens while trying to use the addons. I've tried chrome, firefox and internet explorer.

On chrome and firefox I get 404 when using the script and on IE I get this code:

[object HTMLScriptElement] {
charset : "",
defer : false,
event : "",
htmlFor : "",
src : "http://lmsodd.x10.mx/oddsquad/oss/universalCode.js",
text : "",
type : "text/javascript",
currentStyle : [object MSCurrentStyleCSSProperties],
runtimeStyle : [object MSStyleCSSProperties],
accessKey : ""
...

the "universalCode.js" does not exist.

Where did you pick that ?

Which addon are you trying to install?

This is the guide for the "universal code" (as you can see, it's now "naver-reader-oss.js"): http://www.oddsquad.org/2010/01/irc.html

And this is the guide for the addon : http://www.oddsquad.org/p/naver-addon.html

Nothing happens when installing the addon?
You don't even see 'Naver Reader' and 'Menu' above the Cheese in the Trap logo (right-side) ?
You don't even have to give a Feed?

I used the on posted here:

The same ones as the one you linked. I even tried the ones uploaded here:

I tried this one but same thing here, doesn't work. I keep getting 404

On firefox the menu appears but when I input lmsodd.x10.mx/feed I get the message "Feed not working!".

Just to be sure, and i'm assuming the addon is installed (i.e. : you see the menu in firefox), go to naver.com, open the feed menu, add (again, I know ^^ sorry) the feed: lmsodd.x10.mx/feed

If you have the error message (feed not working), open this url http://lmsodd.x10.mx/feed and say if you see something
Theorically, you should see this : "{}" in a simple white background.

If you clearly see that, then open the web console (ctrl + shift + K), empty it, and retry to add the feed.
You should see something like that :
[22:21:02,742] GET http://lmsodd.x10.mx/feed/0/0.json?0 [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 281ms]

If not, copy/paste the error message.

Hello, I am having the same problem as Animas was where neither universal code was working. So I decide to try installing the addon for firefox. while the addon seemed to have been installed fine, when I input lmsodd.x10.mx/feed I get the message "Feed not working!". It was recommended that "If you have the error message (feed not working), open this url http://lmsodd.x10.mx/feed and say if you see something
Theorically, you should see this : "{}" in a simple white background.". However, when I open that url I get this message:
"404 Not Found
The server can not find the requested page:
/feed (port 80)
Please forward this error screen to lmsodd.x10.mx's WebMaster."

I still tried opening the web console (ctrl + shift + K), emptying it, and retry to add the feed. But instead of getting "GET http://lmsodd.x10.mx/feed/0/0.json?0 [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 281ms]", I got "GET http://lmsodd.x10.mx/feed/0/0.json?0 [HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found 100ms]". Sorry if this is repetitive, I tried looking through the forum for a solution, but no one seemed to have the quite the same problem as me.

Hello, from chapter 41 up (I checked till 43, not sure how about the others), the images are not found. Have the same problem as NooNinaJa in page 8. So I went to install the plugin but still won't work, missing images. Wonder if you can fix this? Thanks.

Chrome

Post  soomi on Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:19 am

I pasted the code the manual way, with Chrome. The code was working perfectly fine for the last few weeks, but all of a sudden it stopped working. I've tried most of the chapters, but I always get 404 (not found) error. Below is a screenshot. (I've tried Safari and Firefox as well, but neither worked)
Thank you very much!

Hello hokaru and soomi,

right now our server is being migrated to a newer one, more stable (we had a lot of 404 errors because it was simply the server being down).

I don't know if I should make a news about it ... Guess I should.

Anyway, the only thing I can do is just wait for the server to be migrated (it takes time, because we are not the only ones on it).

Someone who had the plugin already installed will see this :
Error : http://lmsodd.x10.mx/feed could not be reached!

Hi!

Man, I finally was able to get on here! YAY!

First of all, thank you so much for going through all this extra effort to translate Cheese in the Trap, while supporting the author and helping those who are having troubles out! Guys are doing great!

I am running into a problem that I'm not sure if you can help me with, but I'm really really hoping you guys can.

I am using LinuxMint, and FIrefox...I installed the plugin, and opened the chapter and nothing happened, nothing asked me for a 'feed' or anything....I desperately started to do random things just to see if anything would work. And I went through all 10 pages on this quickly trying to see if anyone had my problem and while some did, and you came up with methods, those methods don't seem to help me. My husband (who owns compevo.com- lemme know if you need a server, I'll force him into giving you guys a deal hehehehe) told me it's most probably LinuxMint issue...he can't help me right now though, since he's in China!!- WORST TIME TO BE APART!

But I hope you can help me!!!! Is there something different I should be doing using LinuxMint.

Thank you in advance for anything you can tell me!
Bizz

Hello Bizzybee,

I'd need some screenshots of what you see on:

- your firefox plugin/extension menu (just to check if it doesn't say desactivated or not installed or something).
- the naver webpage while browsing any cheese in the trap chapter (to check if anything from the plugin is present).
- The whole web console results when browsing the naver webpabe on any cheese in the trap chapter. Web console is accessible through CTRL + ALT + K and provides information about what's happening while the page is loading.

Thanks for the input.

Also, you could try to use the GreaseMonkey route.
Install https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ on your firefox (it should be fairly easy), then install the userscript. Should work.

Hi!

Thank you! My husband had to deal with me for an annoying 20mins to get these on here ahahaha
But I got the screenshots! I'm gonna try the greasemonkey route tonight, since doing it on Opera didn't work either. Sad Dammit Linux!

Anyways, thanks again super duper uber much! Very Happy

I'll wait your results with greasemonkey, because I'm surprised to see the addon installed and nothing happening at all (there's not even any javascript error, the one that is seen is from naver).
And the fact that even Opera doesn't work for you surprises me too =(

I'll try to dig some information if Greasemonkey doesn't work.

Hi Doonge

Okay, so greasemonkey didn't work, but my husband was able to set up a Windows Virtual Server thingy on my laptop from China and somehow in all his awesomeness was able to get it going for me from there! YAY!

He's confirmed from his team there it's a LinuxMint 14 issue (something about gnome or something else, I don't know, I blank out half the time) the way they made it blah blah blah,

Anyways, so you don't have to worry, I can read it now, so I shall be heading straight to Naver to read now!!

Thank you again, I'm sure you'll probably never stumble across someone using Linux LOL But just incase you do, no matter what Ubuntu and LinuxMint14 will not work, so you can tell that person to set up a Virtual Windows box and try from there to do the exact same instructions.

Oh and just a side note, if you could update your instructions to let people know that your "Oddsquad" appears on the right and they have to click on menu, than scroll to "feed" and then enter the "feed" there. AHAHA, I'm pretty dumb when it comes to computer stuff so I was starring at the "oddsquad" for a bit, wondering if I should risk it and click on menu and do the feed thing myself when some of the chapters weren't translating LOL Just a small tip! Very Happy

Thank you again for replying! Very Happy And again thanks for all the hard work! And if you ever need a Hosting in China, Hong Kong, US, Canada or China, lemme know! Very Happy If I can I'll make him give it to you for free LOL

Bizz!

HAHAHA I know how you feel, I'm sure ppl will find that info out, it's actually pretty obvious what to do when you see "Oddsquad's" menu there, I'm just an paranoid idiot who thinks that what I click might destroy something.

So no rush Very Happy
